The Shore Clingfish or Cornish Sucker

lepadogaster lepadogaster

Family: Gobiesocidae (Clingfishes and singleslits) , subfamily: Gobiesocinae

Order: Gobiesociformes  (clingfishes)

Class:

Actinopterygii (ray-finned fishes)

This unusual fish is characterised by the bluish green eye spots behind the head and the modified pectoral fins which form a sucker like structure used by the fish to attach itself to rocks.  It can grow to 80 mm and is commonest in the South West.  It occurs as far South as the Mediterranean.  I have found these in Pembrokeshire.
